Data and privacy

What we collect

Your answer (Yes or No) is added to a total; it is kept with nothing that could identify you. If you choose to give your department, country, age band or gender, that only increments a counter per group; it is never kept together with your answer.

To count one answer per device, a random code (cookie) is stored on your device. Our database keeps only a hash of that code mixed with a secret and the question name, and deletes it when the question closes.

What we do not do

We ask for no name, phone number or email. We do not store your IP address (it is used only in memory to limit abuse). We sell or share no data. There are no profiles of people.

Legal basis

The order of 15 May 2018 on the protection of personal data (Le Moniteur no. 87) requires consent and security for personal data. We consider that the site does not process personal data in that sense, but we apply its principles anyway: minimisation, short retention, encryption, transparency. Haiti has no data-protection authority yet; for any question, write to us.

WhatsApp

If we ever send questions on WhatsApp, it will be only to people who explicitly asked (opt-in). We would keep a hash of the number per question to prevent double answers, deleted when the question closes; the number and the answer are never stored together.
